RE: Sun & Privacy curtains for Endura .

If you are speaking of a curtain for the cab, many of us use this one.
Easy Curtain
Great product, and excellent customer service.
Good luck,
Bill
Bill...
Like the poster, I've been looking for the same. Do you use this product and are you happy with it?
RW.....
CW has custom made curtains available in their catalogue. You have to take measurements and they'll quote a price and availability. Not sure on the Kodiak but I would think it's available.

RE: Bose Wave radio

There is a saying in the sound business; "No highs, no lows, it must be Bose".
OK but over priced. If thats what she wants and doesn't know any better, get it. You can find much more sound for the money.
Exactly my friend! I can always tell when someone's in the biz or is educated by someone in the biz. Great marketing means higher cost in this case, good looks, small, compact and sounds good for what it claims. No knobs. I even have one that came with the MH and like it.
There are better, sweeter sounding less expensive gear out there. BUT!! if my DW feels the need for a particular item, let's put it in terms most can understand, "there's a reason I've been sucessfully married for most of my adult life" period

RE: Bank of America - RANT

I'm told it gets worse and not sure if it's the truth or not, so correct me if I was misinformed.
A close friend told me he has a BofA CC with a limit of $15K and recently maxed it to that amount. Interest on this amount was somewhere around 9% originally, jacked to I believe 18-19%, by being late (1) month, late by over 30 days about (3) months later and now sits with approx. 34% interest!!!! I said it would be cheaper to borrow from the mob and if you're late, ok maybe lose a knee and didn't think it was very funny.
So I suggested taking up on offers I get in the mail all the time that says "transfer your full cc amounts to our card, no transfer fee, 0% interest for some period of time and some reasonable amount thereafter" and be done with these guys. Here's the part that blew me away and don't know if it's true. HE SAID I would do that but BofA charges a TRANSFER fee from them that could be as much as (10%) of the total owed!!! WOW! Is this true and did Barney Frank approve this?? (sorry about the BF remark)

RE: When it rains, it pours

Another suggestion might be to post what manufacturer, model and year as others with the same may have experienced similar leaks and could offer advice. We had a leak, our dealer didn't quite know where to look but another customer overheard our conversation and made a suggestion as he had a similar unit with a similar problem. Dealer recaulked the end cap on the roof where the ladder had been attached and said it was vulnerable underneath the cap and solved the problem. It does take patience to find these sometimes but you have to see it through.

RE: Windshield Mirror Removal

"A shop is unlikely to guarantee that the windshield won't break because of the possibility of existing stresses on the windshield."
I know you're right as I called a shop today and said no gaurantees of any kind for anything other than looking at it. It's staying where it's at for now until I can muster up enough nerve, money and flat out get tired of looking at it. Thanks

RE: Coachman sold to Forest River

So, does that mean our new 2009 Coachmen is an orphan? A collector's item? A vehicle without a warranty?
Oh well, more and more stuff like this is going to happen in this economy. I'm not going to worry about it.

RE: Windshield Mirror Removal

I've seen them removed by using a small putty knife. The knife was laid flat against the glass and against the metal piece, then hit a firm blow with a hammer. The glass guy said they take them off that way all the time. Haven't done it myself though.
I'd go to a windshield place and get them to do it for you. Just a coward, I guess.
John
Thanks for the info. Think I'll do what you suggest and let them do it.

Windshield Mirror Removal

Having a class C MH, there's no use for the windshield rearview mirror and so I removed it. Problem is there's a mounting piece glued to the windshield that is difficult to remove and afraid of cracking the windshield if I apply too much pressure. Tried flat type razor blade and still won't come off.
Any expert advise, without using a hammer, would be helpful. Thanks

RE: Pacific Coast Hwy 1 & Hwy 101

We did the same trip this past September from LA area north via I-5 to Seattle and back 101 and Hwy 1 all the way. Same size MH you have with absoultely no problems driving with toad. As others have said, scenery was fantastic and never enough time.
Astoria KOA was a great place to stay, another is Honey Bear CG in Gold Beach, OR, Cloverdale KOA in Ca. was nice, just off freeway, Petaluma KOA is great for trips into SF, Wine Country RV Resort in Paso Robles, Ca. is recommended, little further south is Pismo Beach Coast Village, Oceano State Beach and on beach camping, if you desire.
Most all the Oregon SB are great, as well, wish Calif. had more of them. Enjoy you're trip!

RE: Have you found that lately you're getting....

-When we had our 5ver my way of checking was to look in the mirror to see if it followed the truck! (joke)
-Now I add the DW and dog to the list! (another joke)
-A little humor goes a long way the more "senior" I get! (not a joke)

RE: Has anyone put skid rollers on their MH

Having a C & not an A I'm not sure if there's a difference. I had a problem bottoming out every once in a while with steep drives or streets since my coach is almost 31' long. The main problem, besides hitting bottom on the frame skid brackets originally installed by Coachmen, was the expense of a $500.00 ladder that was mounted below the rear bumper! That was the defining moment for me. Had the ladder cut down, now above the bumper and installed welded wheels where the brackets were. Agree with a couple of others using the distribution of weight concept and a somewhat gradual slide on a rolling surface instead of the grinding pavement effect from the frame brackets. Of course bottoming out at any higher rate of speed won't provide much of a cushion no matter what you have. So far so good.

RE: Tiffin warranty claims from dealers

We met and talked with Bob Tiffin at the Pomona RV show about a month ago when we were considering a Tiffin MH. Since La Mesa RV (who btw has a good reputation out here) doesn't have local service in northern LA county, I was concerned about warranty service and beyond. Unless I misunderstood, he told me there are (3) RV techs working directly for Tiffin MH performing the warranty service. Can't remember if they were covering just California or the west coast. Things change as we all know and maybe that's not the case now, but I do know Bob Tiffin was very committed to his clientele which impressed me very much and would be very surprised if this were the case.
If all the planets & stars would have lined up just right we would have bought the Tiffin product, which we thought was very well put together for a fair price.

RE: battery life

Another avenue you may want to try is "google rv battery or amp hour calculators". There are many sites that have calculators that simply require you to plug in various values to give you what's needed.

RE: SoCal Coastal RV Parks

-Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in Orange County (www.newportdunes.com) highly recommended
-Golden Shores RV Park, Long Beach, Ca. (good for sightseeing, probably not for beach activities with kids)
-Carpenteria SB, further north
Of course the ultimate would be Oceano Dunes SVRA near Pismo Beach, not sure if it qualifies for "southern Cal" but camp ON the beach, no hookups. Pismo Coast Village RV Park is great but reservations are tough to get. Start calling now for maybe summer 2010!
Have a good time!!

RE: Tracking RV Information

I had RV'ers Notebook for awhile until it locked up/crashed or whatever. Anyway, the backup wouldn't work and I tossed the whole mess.
Sure lost a lot of time & effort with it.
Next, found a program called "Rolling Stock". So far, it fits the need and appears quite stable.
Doesn't have all the weight & balance stuff like RV's Notebook but that never worked right for me either.
If anyone wants to see its at THIS website.
Great, another piece of software I already know I just have to have! I think I'm always satisfied with what I'm currently using but always searching for something better and more useful. Not quite sure why but I know it'll come in handy.
Chasfm11:
Actually RVer's Notebook I find is very useful but don't use the scrapbook function for photos. We do take pictures each and every trip we take and file on home PC into folders, dated and named. I know it sounds like alot of work but have made it a hobby. Main reason I know is when we get up in years and not able to RV anymore we'll be able to relive the trips and think about all the great times we had!
As for the record keeping, I, like you and several others, just know that the compiled information will come in handy for something, someday, I'm sure of it.

RE: Where is the quality

I might be in the minority but when spending $250,000 for anything, especially a MH, my expectations of a quality unit would be very, very high. Being somewhat of a believer in you get what you pay for, common sense would be screaming in my ear that what this fellow is experiencing is just flat not right! Again, $250K, we're not talking entry level here. Yes, experience and history generally confirms there may be some minor issues the first year and that's what the warranty is for but man, not at this level. If an over abundance of "systems or vendors" are not up to par, it is the responsibility of the end manufacturer to repair or replace. Just ask any reputable manufacturer.
My suggestion is make the dealer perform and stick to it and if they don't, try another dealer and if they don't, get the manufacturer involved; emails, letters, daily phone calls until you're satisfied.
Of course another option is to have the manufacturer rebate about, oh let's say $150,000 and then you'll have any entry level coach and some money to fix it!
Hang in there, I feel so sorry for what you're going through. As others have said, enjoy yourself and hopefully this'll get resolved.

RE: Pomona RVIA Show...

We went twice, both Saturdays and enjoyed the show very much, as always. Frankly don't remember the last year or before regarding attendance but seemed like a healthy crowd to me. Agree on the food prices, but when you're hungry, you're hungry and contributed to the economy.
I must say we were very impressed with the Tiffin coaches to the point of trying to make a deal but couldn't get together on the cost. The assumption on my part was that things the way they appear every where you turn with the down economy, we can certainly make a deal much below the normal "rollin in dirt" stuff that takes (8) hours, name calling, walking off with ocassional shots fired that turns into siging on the dotted line with smiles on both sides, but didn't happen.
The highlight of the Tiffin visit was meeting with Bob Tiffin. This is a very knowledgeable guy that knows his product inside and out and looks you in the eye and says he stands behind his product. And if it's not enough to listen to what he'll tell you, I've read about it from others. Anyway, we didn't have enough money to up our ante but probably will in the future.
Secondly, we traveled over to Coachmen to view the Mirada, a competing product and since we have a Class C Coachmen Concord made a similar offer and believe they would have gone through with the deal. They were likewise pleasant to deal with and helpful with all our questions but decided to wait it out for awhile, keep what we have since we like it and revisit the issue closer to retirement.
The rest of the show was interesting, which they always are. FMCA is coming up in January in Riverside and anyone that missed this one can catch that one.

RE: Getting it home if you are unable??

Good point and we have thought about the same thing. You might want to check out FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) as they offer what I believe is called the "pinch hit driver" in emergency situations. Scary situation, I know, and happy to hear your fine. Hope this helps.
